' r,Y TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] MASTERTON. Thursday. At the first annual championship meeting of the Wairarapa sub-centre, held at Carterton last evening. R. A. Rose. tho Australian and New Zealand champion, won the half-mile and the mile events, and m the three miles event ran a dead-heat with Henderson, of Carterton. In the mile and three miles he declined to compete f"r championship honours, and voluntarily started from marks well behind scratch. Rose's times were; One mile. 5.8; three miles. 18.2 3-5; 880 yds.. 2.4 3-5.
