CITRUS FRUIT.
INDUSTRY AT TAURANGA. [by telegraph.—OWN correspondent.] TAURANGA, Saturday. At a meeting of the Tauranga Citrus Growers' Association it was stated that two shipments of Messina lemons had reached New Zealand recently l>y way of Australia. Owing to the more stringent regulations at the ports of the latter country they had been forwarded to New Zealand. Upon arrival the .consignments were found to be badly infested with scale. Samples from one of the shipments were submitted to the meeting and upon being cut open were found to be unfit for human consumption. The meeting discussed matters associated with the marketing of citrus products. Reference was made to the development of the citrus industry and it was stated that although in tShe near future the quantity from the groves at Tauranga as the trees matured would be. doubled this extra ouantity would easily fie absorbed. Mr. Scott, president of the Auckland Association, addressed the meeting.
