SUBURBAN ASSOCIATION.

NEW SERIES OF .MATCHES. DAY OF MODERATE TOTALS. Moderate scorinu characterised the play in a further series of the Auckland Suburban Cricket Association's senior matches at the Domain on Saturday. The best individual performance was that ,of A. Leikis, of United Suburbs, who played u splendid innings for 8-S runs, which was marred only by the simple manner of his dismissal. United Suburbs secured 280 against Ellerslie, the highest total of the tiny, and Ellerslie had lost one wicket for eight runs when stumps were drawn. Ponsonby scored 189 against Harbour Board, who responded with b4 for two wickets. Green Lane replied with 74 for two wickets against Glen Eden's opening total of 21G. UNITED SUBURBS V. ELLEIISLIE. United Suburbs started fairly well against Ellerslie. McLaren went early, but Williams got the better of the attack and he and Hendy gave promise of a productive partnership for a while. Hendy, however, was rather uncertain, and after giving a couple of chances, was bowled for 11. Wetherall and Williams carried on at a moderate rate, but the best play of the innings was seen when Leikis was partnered by Davis and then by A. Kerr. All three batsmen wore in good form, and when Kerr and Leikis were associated runs came freely off bowling which had now become weaker. Leikis increased his score briskly, and sent anything loose to the boundary. He notched 11 fours and, with his veteran partner, carried the total from 151 to 220 before he poked at a ball from Baxter, and was caught at " silly " point. Kerr survived the rest of the innings, and carried his bat for 47. while Stotter scored 20 good runs The innings closed for 230. and Ellerslie lost one wicket for 8 runs before play ended. Batting first, Glen Eden, with the aid of Kent, Shepherd and E. McNeil particularly, gave a very sound display against Green Lane. Shepherd and E. Seccoinbe was really the only bowler who kept them on the defensive. The innings closed for 21G. C. Watts and Seceombe went in first for Green Lane, and the former rattled up runs attractively before time. He and Cole were batting safely and enterprisingly when play ended.
