TO-DAY'S WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:—Fair and warmer weather is indicated, but unsettled at times, with scattered thunderstorms, particularly in East Coast district, and in the vicinity of mountain ranges, Southerly to southeasterly winds, strong and squally. Rough seas on East Coast. The recent disturbance, which has been centred in the south during the last few days, is now passing away eastward. Thundery conditions, with heavy localised showers, are expected to accompany its progress to the Pacific Ocean. A spell of fine and very warm weather is indicated next week, continuing over the Christmas holidays. Very high barometric pressure is expected. Barometer, midnight, 30.35 in.; steady. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteoiologist reported last evening as follows: —Present indications are for moderate to strong southerly to easterly winds, with lair to cloudy weather generally., but ' scattered showers are likely in the northern districts. The barometer is unsteady in the north, with indications of a cyclonic disturbance in the vicinity of the Kermadec Islands. RAINFALL RECORD.
