EXPLOSION IN FACTORY.
THE FATALITIES TOTAL 23. MANY WORKERS IMPRISONED. A. and N.Z. PARIS. Dec. 14. The explosion at a. chemical factory at Saint Auban, the cause of which has not yet been ascertained, occurred during'the working time. The roof caved in, walls trembled and a deadly gas flooded the building. The fatalities number 23. There are also 30 seriously gassed, five being in a precarious condition. Many workers were imprisoned and asphyxiated, although firemen and relief workers with ga 3 masks made a gallant struggle to save the injured. The factory employed 150Q, and those killed include Algerians, Russians and Portuguese.
