TEACHER FOR SIXTY YEARS
MARIS! BROTHER RETIRES. [from our own correspondent.] SUVA, Deo. 9. One of the best-known teachers in the Islands has resigned from his labour of love, in the person of Brother Claudius, who has just completed his 60th year of service in his duty aS teaching brother of the Marist Order, largely spent among the Pacific Islands. He has gone to New Zealand, but he says ho will resume work, He was given a hearty "sendoff" by new and old pupils and many public men. He has met with great success among the Indian children, by whom he is greatly loved. In the farewell address the Indian boys said, inter alia: "You have been a father to many of us and your name is a household word in Suva and its suburbs." A very able scholar and a very courteous gentleman is Brother Claudius and Fiji wishes him a long, restful holiday in the autumn of his days.
