FLIGHT TO SOUTH POLE.
NO ATTEMPT THIS YEA!R. ARGENTINE PLANS DELAYED. A. and N.Z. BUENOS AIRES, Dec. 12. It is announced that the proposed seaplane flight to South Polar regions has been postponed until next year. The flight proposed was to start about December 20 from Graham Land, in the South Atlantic, which was to be reached in a whaler, and to cross the South Polar regions, a distan.ce of about 2800 miles. Senor Antonius Pauly was to haye been leader and observer, and Major Pedro Zanni, a famous airman, the pilot. Some of the instruments used by Captain Amundsen on his North Polar flight were to be carried. If the South Pole had been crossed the airmen were intending to go on if possible to Christchurch, and eventually to Melbourne, returning thence by steamer. The Geographical Institute of Argentina was defraying a large pairt of the cost of the flight. The seaplane was fitted with twb Dornier engines with a combined horse-power of 950.
