MR. COATES IN IRELAND.
WARM WELCOME ACCORDED. RESULTS OF THE CONFERENCE. A. and N.Z. LONDON, Dec. 12. The Prime Minister of New Zealand, Mr. J. G. Coates, and Mrs. Coates, are continuing their tour of Ireland. Sir James Craig, Prime Minister of Northern Ireland, cordially welcomed Mr. and Mrs. Coates at Belfast station. Cabinet members and a large gathering of the public attended, A guard of honour was provided by the Ulster Constabulary, which, with a band, was drawn up on the platform. Mr. and Mrs. Coates proceeded to ic!torment Castle, where they lunched with Sir James and Lady Craig. Mr. Coates in the afternoon opened a bazaar. He said the Imperial Conference was a success and had cleared up difficulties and misunderstandings. Delegates would, return to the Dominions to urge their own peoples to build up a stronger Empire, The Dominions were grateful for the assistance rendered them during their infancy, added Mr. Coates. They could walk now unassisted, but were anxious, to repay the debt and to show gratitude to the Motherland. Mr. and Mrs. Coates afterwards visited Londonderry, where they were greeted by large crowds, while the cathedral joy bells pealed. They returned to Belfast in the evening.
