RIOT OUTSIDE PRISON.
CROWD ATTEMPTS TO ENTER. POLICE RESERVES ATTACKED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. Dec. 12. News from Vilna states that following upon permission being granted to Messrs. A. Shepherd and J. Beckett, Labour members of the House of Commons, to visit Polish prisons, large crowds, led by Communist members of the Diet, created a riot outside the Vilna prison. They attempted to force an entry and attacked the police reserves. Frequent charges by mounted men restored order. Many arrests were made. Polish Government circles express the opinion that the local Communists took advantage of the visit of Labour membars of the House of Commons to organise demonstrations.
