's *' Oh!" cried Peter, hiding his head, l- " I can"A tall stories with that bump! >r bump! going on outside." t) Bobby was a year older than his d brother. He would show Peter how o' grown-up and brave he was. e He pulled Peter's head from under the e pillow. it *' Don't bo silly," he said. " Let's n see what it is." y "I won't," cried Peter. " I'm going h to stay here. You can go if you like." a Just, then there was another bump ! bump ! y The n.oiao seemed to be nearer now. !- Peter's head disappeared again under the v pillows. r3 Bobby put on his slippers and boldly opened "this door. Bobby heard a muffled " Me-ow." He ran downstairs. quickly and turned on the light. There was nothing there but one smalf cat. ■■ , There she was;-running wildly round, her head firmly fixed iu a salmon tin, from which she was trying to free herself. .Bobbly carefully pulled the tin from her head' and carried her back to the bedroom, where ho dumped her down on Peter's bed. " Now I've caught the villain we can get on with the story," he said. But Betty the cat did not want to hear it. She had some Kittens in the kitchen, waiting to be fed. —Nursery World.
