SANTA CLAUS SLEIGH.

BY ELSIE K. MORTON.

Lots of news for you this week, boys and gii'ls! First of all, nurse 1 lias decided to hold the Santa Claus party on December 18, the Saturday beforo Christmas, so that means that you must send your parcels in just as soon as you possibly can, for we want to get everything in order by Friday. That leaves only a few days to finish packing your parcels, so don't waste another minute! know what a rush there always is at the last, and next week is going to be a very busy time for everyone connected with the Sleigh. Some Girl Guides camo to help make paper decorations last Saturday, and they have made some of the loveliest trails you ever saw. The big lecture ha will lock very gay and bright when Santa starts to unload the Sleigh next Saturday, you may be sure! First "of all, I want to tell you about two kind letters that came in this weak s mail. One was from a lady in the country, who has offered to take two poor little children into her home for a real good holiday. Another letter contained ,£5, to enable some little sick child to have a holiday by the seaside, and nurse savs she knows the very one. There have been many sympathetic letters about poor little Lawrence, whom I told yon of last week, and John and Stanley bought a lovely cigarette card album with pennies from their money-box, and sent a packet of cards. It was such a lovely book, and I know Lawrence will be delighted to get it, and especially to know that two little boys showed such a kind and sympathetic thought for him. John, Bill and Peter, who have sent in many contributions for the Sleigh and Comfort Ship, sent a fine parcel,-containing a shut-eye dolly in a ■ pretty blue frock, two motor-trucks and some mechanical toys. Two pretty books came from Nancy and Robert,, and boxes of lovely little dollies from Mrs. Oxenham and "Strathculm." Jock, Allan and Peter sent some woolly balls and Peter even sent a briar pipe and a tin of real tobacco for Daddy! From Mum and Dot came a beautiful scrapbook and other things, and nice mixed parcels camo from Jean, from Roy (bought with pennies from his money-box), from Jackj Florence, and a lovely new book from Beverley Anne.

That reminds meI ■want to thank you I for sending so many beautiful new par- ! eels. Practically ! everything that has been received so far has either been quite new or in first-class condition, with the exception of a few clothes. • Will members of the Brigade and others please note that we dp not want clothes for Santa Glaus Sleigh ? It is entirely an appeal for toys and funds for Christmas Cheer, and we cannot handle clothing at the present time. A few parcels of very pretty little baby's things have come in, and are very welcome, but clothing for grownups is not required just now, although * we thank the senders for their kindly thought. v Among several parcels of for the "tinies" was the sweetest little parcel from Aileen, age 13 months, which will go to ■ a baby who was bora on Armistice Day. I mustn't forget to tell you about a letter from a little girl on a farm at Te Hana, who, being too far from the shops to buy toys, sent five shillings to buy a picture book for a sick girl. Another letter contained sixteen -and fourpence, raised by the Karaka (Thames) children at a small concert held in the local storeroom while yet another letter contained £1 collected in St. Helicrs. A donation, which showed a very kindly spirit, was one of five shillings, from the winner oi last week's Letterbox Corner Competition. That will be all for now, and don t forget the Santa Claus campaign will close next week ! Send your parcels m just as soon as ever you can ! ,
