MOTOR-CAR REGISTRATION.

DUNEPIN PROSECUTIONS. VENDORS AND PURCHASERS. [BY TELECIBAIPH.—-OWN OORREaPOKDEJ.'!,] DUNEDIN. Friday. Two charges of permitting an un* registered motor-car to be used'were preferred against Todd Bros, to-day. A charge of using one of the cars was also laid against Frederick Gaffney. Mr. C. J. Payne appeared for the defence.

The semoiHergeanfc said it wa3 a question of whether this person had been justified in using a demonstration car. Gaffney had stated that he procured a Buick car on trial from Andrew Todd on Sunday, October 24. He took it to Lawrence and returned it about 7 p.m. Gaffney had since bought the car. It would appear that Todd Bros had dorto business on a Sunday which might form the basis of another charge. The senior-ser-geant. added that cars from garages and bearing demonstration numbers were flying about all over the country every, Sunday in the year. Mr. Payne said there was no doubt about the facts. The car was used for demonstration purposes and subsequently was bought by Gaffney. Tho Act allowed this, of course. , The Senior-Sergeant: We only want a decision. _ The second charge against Todd Bros, concerned a Chrysler car. The demonstration in this cas<3 also took place on a Sunday and the user had not bought the actual car used but one of the same make. . , Tho charges against, Todd Bros and tiiat against Gaffney were dismissed.
