BRITISH NAVAL HERO.
JACK TAR'S GRIM HUMOUR. LOSS OF SLOOP VALERIAN. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 7.5 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 5. The 19 survivors of the crew of the British sloop Valerian, who were rescued by H.M.S.' Capetown when the Valerian was sunk in the cyclone in the West Indies in October, with the loss of 80, of her crew, have arrived in London. The rescued men particularly praise one of the stokers, who swam to a lifebelt from the raft, saying that he was "going out visiting." In this way he cheered up the other men, who were in an exhausted condition after having been' 21 hours on the raft in the open sea.
