MOTORING FATALITY.

CAR CAPSIZES ON ROAD. ONE OCCUPANT KILLED. WIFE SERIOUSLY INJURED. DRIVER. AND FAMILY NOT HURT,, [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAUKAXGA, Saturday. A fatal motoring accident occurred this afternoon on the Tauranga-Waihi main road, about eight miles from Tauranga. A car driven by Mr. Leslie Allen Cooper, a member of the Borough Council staff at the McLaren s Falls hydro-electric works, swerved into a bank and capsized. Mr. Cooper's wife and two young children were in the car and escaped injury, but Mr. Cooper's father-in-law, Mr. John Odium, was dead when extricated. Mrs. Odium was seriously injured. Her skull was fractured, one log was broken, and she also sustained internal injuries. She was immediately taken by car to the Tauranga Hospital. Mr. Cooper was hurled through the windscreen, but was not injured. He motored to Waikino yesterday and left Waikino at noon to-day on tho return to McLaren's Falls with his wife and children. Mr. and Mrs. Odium were old residents of Waikino. Mrs. Odium's condition was reported to be still very serious when inquiry was made at the Tauranga Hospital at a lata hour last evening;.
