HARBOUR BOARD MATTERS. [BY TELEGRAPH. T-OWN CORRESPONDENT. J TAURANGA, Friday The Hon. K. 8. Williams, Minister of Public Works, in a letter to the Tauranga Harbour Board, advises that he will en deavour to visit Tauranga as soon as it can be conveniently arranged. The Harbour Board has instructed their engineers, Messrs Blair, Mason, Lee and Brown, to proceed with a re-survey of the harbour entrance. The Chamber of Commerce has written to the Harbour Board urging the board to provide shed accommodation for at least 400 tons on the new railway wharf The board referred the question to a committee. The Tauranga Bowling Club's competitions are now well under way. Tho pairs competition op.med on Saturday last, when Allely and Ward beat Gifl'ord and Jeffares. Pemberton and Whining defeated Dive and Ellery On Wednesday, another game was played, Gifl'ord anc! Jefares defeating Pemberton and Whiting A start was also made on Wed nesday" with full fink games for the Smith Shield, when Gibbs, Ellerv, Jones, Phillips (s), beat Duff, Dagley, G Crowley, Guinness (s) The same afternoon Carew and Dagley played their game in the singles handicap, Carew winning Next Wednesday, Tauranga bowlers will journey to Te Puke to play the next series of games for the Butcher Cup. Kingfish are reported to be plentiful m ■ the harbour. The other day no less than fifteen were sighted at one time in the vicinity of tho town wharf. Kingfish up to thirteen pounds have been captured with rods.
