MINISTERS' MOVEMENTS
INSPECTION OF ORCHARDS.
In order to igab personal acquaintance with the extent of the fruitgrowing industry in the Auckland Province and of the problems of the growers; the Minister of Agriculture, Hon. O. J. Hawken, yesterday embarked on a tonr of inspection of the orchards adjacent to the city. The Minister arrived in the morning by the limited express from Wellington and immediately set oat on his tour. He was accompanied by Dr, O. ,T. Reakes, .Director-General of the Department of Agriculture, Mi J. A. Campbell, director of the Division of Horticulture, Mr. S. W. House, and Mr. G. A. Green, president and secretary respectively of the Auckland Provincial Fruitgrowers' Council, and Mr. D; McLennan, Mr. W. J. Jordan arid Mr. H. G. R. Mason, M.P.'s. Visits of inspection were made to a number of orchards m Avondale, Mount Koskill, Mangere and Otahuhu. To-day the Minister will visit the Oratia and Henderson districts.
