TO-DAY'S WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:— Unsettled weather is indicated, with heavy rain in many parts of the country, particularly in western and southern districts. Winds variable, southerly to south-easterly, strong to gale, prevailing shortly. Seas rough. A cyclonic c'isturbance is centred between New Plymouth and Napier, and stormy weather has resulted in those districts. Barometer, midnight, 30 20iil ; steady. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows; —Present indications are for moderate to strong westerly winds, squally at times in and southward of Cook Strait; weather fair to cloudy generally, but changeable and showery in the western districts.
