ATTACK ON GOVERNMENT. MINISTER'S LONDON MISSION. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 11.25 p.m.) SYDNEY. Oct. 28. When tho Legislative Assembly met today the Loader of the Opposition, Mr. T. R. Bavin, asked, as a mattor of urgency, if he might be allowed to move a motion of censure on the Government. The motion concerned the action of the Government in withholding the result of the recent visit to London of the Attorney General, Mr. E. A. McTiernan, who went there to try and secure an instruction for the Governor to accept the advice of his Ministers in all matters. A motion to treat the matter as one of urgency was defeated by 42 votes to 38. THE POLITICAL SITUATIONUPPER HOUSE ALLOWANCES. A. and N.Z. SYDNEY. Oct. 28. It is generally considered in political circles that the reversion to tho system of single seat electorates will make a great change in the personnel of the State Parliament. The Country Party will be considerably weakened and at the next elections there will practically be a straight-out fight between the Nationalist and Labour parties. At a meeting of the Labour Caucus of the Legislative Council a strong protest was entered against tho delay of the Government in honouring the promise it made at the time when members of the Legislative Assembly increased their own salaries to provide an allowance for the members of tho Upper House. The caucus decided to send a deputation to the Premier, Mr. J. T. Lang, to reque.it that an allowance shquld bo made for each sitting, the total for each member not to exceed .£3OO a year.
