LARGE STATE DEFICIT. HIGHER TAXES PROPOSED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 11.35 n.m.) ADELAIDE. Oct,'. 08 The South Australian Budget is to be delivered in the House of Assembly on Tuesday. It will show a deficit of £BOO.OOO. The Government will suggest an increase in land taxation, which it is estimated will vield £240.000. Increased railway freights are expected to bring in £550,000. The State Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Thomas Bntterfield, to-day announced that the Government intended to impose additional taxation for the purpogo of raising revenue foe the development of the western portion of the State. There were immense possibilities in the area named. Difficulties regarding the railways would also have to be faced.
