STRUCK BY TRAMCAR.
CHRISTCH URCH FATALITY. THE DRIVER EXONERATED. [BY telegram.—own correspondent.] CHRISTCHURCH. Thursday, The inquest into the circumstances of the death of Wilder Barry Fox, who was struck by a Pviccarton-bound car last Thursday afternoon and who died in hospital two days later, was resumed before Mr. H. P. Lawry, S.M., coroner, to-day.
The verdict was that deceased met his death from a fracture of the base of the skull caused by an accident. No blame was attachable to the driver of the tram. The evidence showed that the deceased was so intent on catching a city-bound car that lie failed to notice the other tram approaching. Had ho taken another step instead of stopping when he reached the inside of the rail he would have been clear of both cars.
