THE WAR MEMORIAL GIFT
The Otahuhu Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. R. B. Todd, presiding. A letter from the solicitor for the anonymous donor of the war memorial stated tho work in connection with'the memorial was progressing satisfactorily. The letter suggested the Governor-Gen-eral should be asked whether he would unveil the memorial. It was decided to comply with the suggestion. ■■ The engineer reported the well in connection with tho new water supply had been sunk to a'depth of 75it. At a depth of 73ft. water Was encountered, and a steam-pump capable .of delivering 10,000 gallons an hour installed. This did not prove satisfactory, and a 20,000gallon .pump was being installed. Permits for buildings valued at, £2296 were granted during the past fortnight.
