The Sultan of Morocco, Mulay Yussuf, iias married a former favourite of his brother, Mulay Hafid, who abdicated in 1912. The Sultan's three sons will be married simultaneously to-dav to brides they have not yet seen. The Sultan of Morocco, Mulay Yussuf, was born in 1832 at Meknes, Morocco. He is a son of the Sultan Mulay Hassan, who uiled from 1873 to 1894 as the fourteenth of the line which has held the Sultanate of Morocco (Maghreb Aksa) since 1833. After Mulay Hassan's death the Sultan Abd-el-Aziz reigned until 1908. In that year he was compelled to abdicate in favour of his brother, Mulay Hafid. The later had risen against him with the help of the French, who, by the occupation of Casablanca, had obtained a/ footing in Morocco in 1907. After Mulay Hafid had been induced by the French to sign an agreement consenting to a French protectorate, however, he found himself unable to hold his own against the attacks of some of the Moorish tribes. He, therefore, abdicated on August 12, 1912, in consideration of a lump sum of 400,000 francs and an annuity of 375.000 francs. He has since lived at Marseilles. In his stead the French placed on the throne his brother, Mulay Yussuf. They have since protected him against any efforts to supplant him. and the succession is to go to his eldest son.
