PACIFIC CABLE BOARD.
RECONSTRUCTION SCHEME. SATISFACTORY UNDERSTANDING. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 10.35 p.m.) LONDON. Oct. 26. The representatives of Britain, Canada, Australia and New Zealand have arrived at a satisfactory understanding on all outstanding questions connected with the Pacific Cable Board and the necessary legislation will ■ shortly be introduced to provide for the reorganisation of the members of the board, for revising the method of the chairman's appointment, to settle the amount to be placed to reserve and the manner of disposal any annual surplus. The relations between the board and the partner Governments will be more clearly defined. WIRELESS COMPETITION. CANADA'S GLOOMY VIEW. Sun. OTTAWA. Oct, 26. The Loudon correspondent of the Toronto Star says the Prime Minister of Canada, Mr. W. L. Mackenzie King, is. specially critical on the subject of the Pacific cable, because the beam system of wireless appears to be a success and the Pacific Cable Board refused to wait when the ex-Postmaster-General of Canada, Mr. C. Murphy, pressed for delay until the beam trials had been completed. It is now feared that the completion of the beam service will render extra business for tho board's new cable problematical.
