THE GOLOFIELOS .JUBILEE. FARMERS' PROSPECTS BRIGHT. [bv telegraph.—own correspondent.] THAMES, Wednesday. A suggestion has been made t hat the diamond jubilee of the Thames goldfields, ■which occurs on July 27, 1927, should lie celebrated by a record gathering, and it is expected to appeal to hundreds of exThames people now resident in Auckland, particularly to the Old Thames Boys' Association and the Old Thames Girls' Association. The spring weather of the past feu- days has had a good effect on pastures, winch have never looked better. The recuperative properties of the soil is again demonstrated by the luxurious growth of gra.-s. With the extension of various drainage schemes the Hauraki Plains settlers are more than ever confident of future oresperi ty. The road to Auckland is now in excellent order and the various motor services leport "capacity" business. general meeting of the Thames Association Football Club attracted a fair attendance last evening. The balance-sheet showed a deficit, of £8 19s Id, of wbicn approximately £4 10s was stated to !>o recoverable. A suggestion that all outstanding debts he met by voluntary contributions from the players was approve-!. Regarding the season's games, it was reported that a loss of gate money had been occasioned in the goldfields interclub series. Thames gained second place in this competition, hut lost the Howe!en Cup to Kerepeehi. Waihi was the only club to carry out the terms of the challenge for the White Cup, which was retained by T ham erf The committee and officers were, reflected.
