TREATING CONSUMPTIVES.
A RECENT ARRIVAL. NORTH CANTERBURY COMPLAINT, [by telegraph.—own CORRESPONDENT. 3 CHRISTCmjRCH, Wednesday. An application has been made to the North Canterbury Hospital Board for the admission to the consumption sanatorium of a young woman who landed in NewZealand on September 30 last trom Australia, where she had been since April last. The board has made representations to the Health Department in regard to the case. " Unless we take care we will be responsible for all the consumptives in the Dominion," said Mr. W. E. Leadley, at to-day's meeting. "The Government should come to our assistance down here. We are bearing more than our fair share of the burden of the disease. Wo have a reputation for the treatment of it, and people are coming here from other parts of the Dominion to be treated."
