THE NORTHCOTE SCHOOL.
NEW INFANT DEPARTMENT,, OPENING BY THE MINISTER. The official opening of the new infant department at the Northcote Primary School will take place to-morrow after' noon, the ceremony being performed by tho Hon. R. A. Wright, Minister of Education. 'J he building, which cost about £3OOO, consists of four rooms, and is buiit of wood. It is intended that it should form the nucleus of an eight-roomed school, of which the remaining four rooms will be built at a later date. At present tho school takes pupils up to standard four, pupils in higher classes being sent on to the Northcote Junior High School. The roll number is 532, the average attendance being 288. The accommodation of the old building has been overtaxed for some time, and at present four portable rooms are in use as class-rooms. The new infant school, which will have accommodation for about 200 children, is up-to-date in every respect. It is provided with folding windows which open to their full extent and the corridor side of each room is equipped with ventilating sashes.
