ANIMAL INSTITUTE.
ERECTION IN ENGLAND. WEALTHY WOMAN'S BEQUEST. A. and N.Z. LONDON. Oct. 13. A remarkable sanitorium for sick animals is being- established on 30 acres of land near Ilford. The institution will include an animal hospital, operating rooms, X-ray chambers and a college for training assistants in the prevention of cruelty to animals. There, -will even be a sanctuary with nesting boxes for bird:-. Sick animals in the wards will never be left unattended. The nurses will be relieved every eight hours. A telephone message at any hour of the day or night will ensure an ambulance being sent to a casualty case. The erection of the sanitorium has been rendered possible owing to the will of Mrs. Sarah Grove Grady, formerly oi Crowborough, who died in January. She bequeathed £IOO,OOO, which was one-sixth of her estate, to institutions devoted to the care of dogs, cats .and pit ponies. The residue was to be devoted to the creation of an Animal Benevolent Institute.
