LIGHTNING IN THE NORTH. flash strikes post office. MINOR DAMAGE FROM FIRE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT J KAITAIA. Thursday. A spectacular electrical storm occurred in the Far North last night when large areas of sky were brilliantly illuminated by lightning. . •' The Mangonui post office was struck and woodwork adjacent to the lightning guards caught fire and was soon blazing merrily. As the result of the prompt action by the postmaster very little damage was done and the work of the telegraph office was not impeded to any great extent.
