SERIES OF RECOMMENDATIONS DEVELOPMENT OF TRADE. Australian and N.Z. Cable' Association. (Reed. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 8. The Association of British Chambers of Commerce has prepared a report defining its attitude toward the various subjects which are likely to be discussed at the Imperial Conference. The report urges : (1) Larger public funds to assist Imperial migration and development works which would not compete with private enterprise—for example railways, harbours and irrigation—provided that if British assistance bo given it shall bo for orders placed in Britain. (2) Tho appointment of an authoritative standing committee in London to deal with Empire tariffs and kindred questions. (3) Imperial penny postage. (4) The development of air communications.
