OTAUA FARMER'S RETURNS. [by telegraph.—OWN correspondent.] HAMILTON. Saturday. An excellent return from 20 acres of land was obtained by Mr. W. G. Cox, ol Otaua, Waiuku, last, season. He milked 14 cows, including two two-year-olds and a cow which was milked only a portion of the season, and the herd yielded 51071b. of butter-fat. The property is divided into six paddocks and Mr. Cox cut two acres of hay and grew and cut three-quarters of an acre of green maize. During the season Mr. Cox top-dressed m the proportion of 2J,cwt. to the acre. A firm believer in chain harrowing he kept the harrows going regularly, maintaining cleanliness and taking full advantage of the enriching properties 'of natural manure. His cows averaged 3651b. of butter-fat for the, season, while the return equalled 2551b. of butter-mt to the acre. In previous seasons Air. Cox's herd did even better than this. [ n 192223. it yielded 59511b. of butter-fat, and in 1923-24 tho output was 51651b.
