MAUNGAKIEKIE CLUB. GOULDING WINS CHAMPIONSHIP. The final of the Muungnkiekie Golf, Club's championship was played at tho Titirangi links on Saturday between T. A. Gould in £ and W. L. Robinson over 36 holes. Die links were in very good order, but the strong wind made good scoring rather difficult at times. The result of the match was a win for Goulding by 2 and 1. At the end of the first nine holes Robinson was 2 up. He won the next two and was 4 up. Goulding, however, won five out of the next six liolc3, the. other one being halved. This made him one up at the 17th. Robinson won the 18th with a -1 and made tho match all square al the end of the first round. Goulding started well in the second round by winning four and halving two of the first six holes. The seventh and eighth went to Robinson with a five nnd a four, and tho ninth to Goulding, making him 3 up at tho turn. Robinson won the tenth and halved the 11th with a four at. each. The 12th was won by Goulding with a six. He also halved tho 13th with a seven. Robinson faking three putts. Tho 14th and 15th were halved in bogey, making Goulding donny 3. Bohinson reduced the lead to two by winning the 16th with a four. A half in five at the 17th gave the match to Goulding. The medal rounds in tho morning were:- Goulding, 85: Robinson, 83; and in the afternoon tho figures were 83 and 85 respectively. •A bogey handicap was played at Titirangi on Saturday and resulted in a tie' between F. S. Ballin (11) and R.. L. Wilson (9). who wero both I. down. The fourth round of the match play handicap was played at the One Tree Hill links Results: -E. A. Tnke beat W. Darby, 3 and '2; C. In spite of the fact that rain fell throughout tho afternoon, 40 members of the Auckland Golf Club took part in a bogey competition at Middlemore on Saturday afternoon. The wet state of the ground, combined with the thick spring growth, made conditions very difficult. The best cards were:--A grade: P. T. Upton (5), two up; R. F. Johnston (9), 2 up; H. W. The Wanganui golf championship tourney was concluded this afternoon in showery weather and before a largo attendance. Tho championship was won by J. C. Bidwell (Wairarapa). who defeated J. Harold (Wanganui), fi and 5. In the semi-final Bidwell beat J. Cross Seymour, 2 and 1, In the final Bidwell started well, taking the first, two holes. At. the dress circle both men failed to find tho green with (heir approaches and the hole was halved in 5. Harold's drive at the fourth was faulty. Bidwell hooked his second well to the left of the green into the rough. His approach hit, tho pin and stopped dead, enabling him to win the hole in 4. Neither found the urecn from Sea View Bidwell approached beautifully and won the hole. 4 to 5, Both hit. long balls at the sixth and were close to the green with their seconds. Bidwell approached well and won tho hole. Ho outdrove Harold by 40yds.' at the seventh. Harold was short, with his second and Bidwell went through. Bidwell over-ran the hole by about 12ft. hut s|ink a great putt and halved the hole in 4. At the quarries Bidwell hit, a tremendous drive. Harold was in tho rough on the right. Both approached tho edge of the green and tho hole was halved in 4. Bidwell hit another long drive and was on tho green with his second. Harold was to the right with his second and approached nicoly. Bidwell's second was pin high on tho edge of the green and he sank his putt for 3, winning the hole. He was 6 up at the turn. At the tenth Harold was short nnd Bidwell was on the edge of the green. Both approached badly and Bidwell won, 4 to 5. Harold won Long Tom after Bidwoll missed a -Ift. putt for a half. At the short twelfth Harold was in the bunker but chipped out nicely'and won in a '3.
