AUCKLAND SAVAGE CLUB.

THE ANNUAL LADIES' NIGHT. CLOSE OF SUCCESSFUL SEASON. The Auckland Savage Club completed a successful season with the annual Ladies Night at Scots Hall on Saturday evening. A large crowd attended and each lady was presented on entering with a souvenir box 9f chocolates. The Bangatira, Mr. H. C. McCoy, on behalf of the members welcomed the guests in a neat speech and then called on the Savage Club Orchestra to open the programme. Under the baton of Mr; Colin Muston "Slavonic Rhapsody" (Friedemann), was inspiringly rendered as was " The Wee Macgre.gor Patrol " (Amers), and later "The Weymouth Chimes." The club chnir then presented an unusual and thoroughly enjoyable entertainment which included parodied excerpts from Gilbert and Sullivan's operas, the soloists being Mr. F. P. Garland and Mr. H. Bellam. Mr. Rex Yates gave a wise speech on water and Mr. Hogbeu contributed a lecture on journalism. At the conclusion of the first half of the programme, Mr. J. H. Hutchison in a short, speech paid a tribute to (lie services rendered to the club by the vanga lira, Mr. McCoy, and, on behalf of the club, presented him with a beautifully carved feather-box. In reply, Mr. McCoy thanked his brother savages for their good wishes and for the handsome mementp. Never had any chief been more loyally supported, ho said, and he wished to take the opportunity of expressing his gratitude to the committee. On concluding his speech, the rangatira was accorded musical honours. Mr. Colin Muston's services were also accorded musical honours. After supper a highly amusing sketch was performed. The scene was laid in a school-room of forty years ago, the pupils portrayed being various well-known Auckland business men and some celebrated women. Mr. Singer as Miss E. M. Dell, was particularly funny. Mr. Vernon, the ventriloquist, brought, a happy evening to a fitting conclusion.
