POST OFFICE BUSINESS.
EXPANSION AT PUTARURU. REQUEST FOR ADDITIONS. [by telegraph.—special reporter.] TIRAU. Friday. The co operation of the Minister of Public Works, Hon. K. S. Williams, iti extending the construction of additions to the post office at Putaruru was sought hv a deputation from the Putaruru Chamber of Commerce to-day. Mr. J. W. Barr Biown, president of the chamber, supplied the Minister with figures relating to the expansion of business since the office was opened in 1912. He said £BOO had been provided in the Estimates for the work, which was most urgent owing to the very overcrowded conditions under which the staff now worked. Mr. Williams promised to lay the case before tho Postmaster-General, and in the meantime he would instruct the district engineer of the Public Works Department to be ready to mako a start with the work so that there would he no delay if the PostmasterGeneral asked that the additions should be put in hand.
