BOXING.
SACRED HEART TOURNAMENT. The annual boxing championship tournament in connection with Sacred Heart College was concluded last evening, when the finals in eacli division were decided. Thirty-four boys entered, and preliminary bouts were fonght earlier in the week. The finalists were very evenly matched and the bouts were full of interest. Mr. Frank Burns referced. The winners in the various classes were:—Bst. 711)., J. Garvev; list., V. Brown; welter-weight, W. Hassan; shadow-weight, R. Bailey; 6st., T. Ronnie ; bantam-weight, A. Macdonahl; 12st., T. Mullins; 10st., R. Keenarl; 9st., Mervyn Smith; 7sf„, R. Neil: 6,1. 71b., J. Stagpoole; 7st.. 41b., J. Jamiesou; flyweight, J. O'CarrolJ, Medals were awarded to Macdonahl (most scientific boxer), and Smith and O'Carroll (as winners of their classes). BOUT AT OAMARU. CIUNN DEFEATS GRIFFITHS. [nv temegbapu.—ph-kss association.] OAMARU. Friday. A boxing contest held here to-night, which went the full 15 rounds, resulted in a win on points for flarrv Gunn. of Timarn, from Tommy Griffiths, of Dun edin. An even and clever exhibition of boxing was given.
