■ : :';""v Daring the second day's proceedings of the Auckland District Convention of the Women's Christian Temperance Union the following officers were elected for the district: —Mrs. Benfell, president; .Mrs. Finch, vice-president; !Mrs. Williams, recording secretary; Mrs. Kasper, corresponding secretary; and Mrs. W. Taylor, treasurer. r The following resolutions were carried: (1) That we, as the Auckland District Union, move that the Dominion W.C.T.XT. have forms printed to get- signatures for the two issue ballot paper signed if possible by every woman in the Dominion, and forward the same to the House of liepresent atxves. (2) That this Auckland District Convention, write to the General Manager of Railways asking that it -he compulsory to have at least one lavatory on air suburban trains. (3) That the women of the Auckland District Christian Temperance Union ask the Government to restrict the' use of the Eilerslie racecourse to the club controlling l?it so as to reduce the racing days in. Auckland. (4) That this convention of the Auckland District W.C.T.U. desires to express its appreciation and thanks: to the Rev. D. C. Herron for his outspoken utterances against the present system of compulsory military training of the youth of New Zealand, and trusts that the day is not far distant when such training will be unnecessary because international disputes will all be settled by arbitration instead of\ war.
