WANGANUI TOURNAMENT. COMMENCEMENT OF PLAY. [BY TELEGR4PH. OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WANGANUI, Thursday. The Wangunul Golf Club's championship tournament opened on the Belmont links this morning: in fine weather. The course was in splendid order and the fairwayr, and greens in capital condition. Competitors were present in large numbers from all parts of the Dominion. Two qualifying rounds of 18 holes were played to-day, and the 16 players with the best gross scores are to meet in match play to-morrow. The Belmont handicap for the second 16 bust scorers is abo in progress, in conjunction with the former. In addition, the firr.t medal match was played and two good net scores were recorded by long handicap players, E. Runnerstrum and A. Doig, the :iormer having 95, 22 —73 and Doig 91, 1£~73. Members of the Maungakiekie Golf Clubs played a match, ladies v. men, at the Titirangi links yesterday afternoon. Tho ladies won by 9 gsimes to 8, four ending all square. Details are as follow: W. L.
