TE KUITI AFFAIRS.
STREET LIGHTING SCHEME. PROPOSED NEW TOWN HALL. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TE KUITI, Thursday. The plan of a new street lighting system prepared by the. Waitomo Power Board and including the. central lighting of the business area was approved at a meeting of the Te Kuiti Borough Council this week. The new system will provide over 100 lights. It was decided to approach the Minister of Public Works, Hon. K. S. Williams, with a request that he. visit To Kuiti and receive a deputation in connection with the council's request for assistance with (he maintenance of the three miles of the Auckland-New Plymouth highway in the borough. The committee appointed to investigate the proposal that- a modern Town Hall and municipal offices bo built reported that it expected to he able to place a satisfactory scheme for the erection of a selfsupporting building before a special meeting of t.ho council. It was expected that the hall would be used as a picture theatre bv one of three companies with which negotiations were being conducted. It was decided to hold a special meeting of the council as soon as the committee's scheme v?as ready.
