RUBBISH DESTRUCTOR.
THE NORTH SHORE BOROUGHS
AN AGREEMENT ARRIVED AT.
Tho proposal for the establishment of a refuse destructor for the joint use of the four North Shore boroughs was discussed at the meeting of tho Takapuna Borough Council last evening, when deputations wero present from Devonport, Northcoto and Birkenhead.
Mr. T. Lamont, Mayor of Devonport and chairman of the Marino Boroughs' Association, said Devonport, Northcote and Birkenhead agreed that a destructor was necessary and the support of Takapuna to the scheme was now sought. The council passed a resolution affirming the principle of having a joint destructor.
It was agreed that, the management of the destructor should ho placed under a joint committee from the four boroughs. Tho Mayor, Mr. J. 1). Morison, and Messrs. A. H. Wilkio and .7. W. Williamson were appointed Takapuna's representatives on tho committee.
The committee will meet on Friday of next week to go into the question of installing the system. The site chosen for the joint incinerator is on the harbour frontage at tho foot of Dominion Street, Takapuna, at the head of Shoal Bay.
