STRUCK BY MOTOR-CAR.

A distressing fatality occurred on Bur* nett's Hill, Whangarei, last evening, when John Northwood,. a retired farmer of Tokatoka, 66 years of ago, was struck by a mtor-car driven by Mr. J. A. S. McKay, of Kamo, Death was practically instantaneous. .;f

Upon surmounting the brow of Burnett's Hill, Mr. McKay met another car. Both cars' passed with dimmed lights, when, in front of Mr. McKay's car, appeared deceased. There was no time to avoid an impact. Northwood sustained terrible injuries to' his sktill. An inquest was; opened this morning; when evidence of identification was taken. The case was adjourned until September^.
