WITH THE HOUNDS.
PAKURANGA HUNT CLUB. ENJOYABLE MEET AT RAMARAMA The Pakurnnga Hunt Club met at Mr. W. J. D. Sharp's farm, Ramarama, on Saturday, when a very enjoyable day's sport resulted. An accident to the lorry conveying the hounds from Auckland caused a slight delay, but during the wait Mrs. Sharp served morning tea, an act of hospitality that was keenly appreciated.
The hounds were not long in locating a good, strong hare at the back of Mr. Sharp's farm. The quarry headed for Mr. Sam Glasgow's farm, and raced across the properties of Messrs. M. Rayner, R. Bartley and G. Harrison, where a check occurred. However, the scent was again picked up and the hunt proceeded to Mr. Fox's farm, across the road, across Mr. R. L. Greenwood's property, and back to Mr. Hartley's farm, whore the hare was killed. The run extended for about four miles over fine hunting country with saplinged fences, wire fences, ditches and gorse hedges to negotiate. The meet was popularly adjudged as being the best of the season.
There was a good attendance. About 30 followed the hounds on horse-back, while other enthusiasts motored from the city to watch proceedings. Among the followers were:—Mrs. McLaughlan. Mrs. P. Smith.
