COST OF NEW QUARTERS. APPEAL MADE FOR FUNDS. The alterations" to the recently-acquired headquarters for the Plunket Society in Symonds Street are rapidly approaching completion, and the building will shortly be available. The cost of the alterations and furnishing will be about £llsO, and the society is desirous of having this sum, as well as £2250 of the purchase price, paid immediately. This would leave £3OOO on mortgage and the interest on this would bo about equal to the rental of the present Plunket premises in Upper Symonds Street. An appeal is being made to supporters and well-wishers of the Plunket Society to help this worthy cause. A list of the necessary furniture, with the approximate cost of the articles, is advertised in this issue, and it is suggested that those who wish to help might make themselves responsible for one or more of these articles. Several donations have already been received. The sum of £SO to .be used in furnishing a room has boon received from Frank and John Nathan, both Plunket babies, in recognition 6f benefits received. A donation of £2O from Mrs. A. M. Hellaby was forwarded with the expression of warm approval of the purchase of more suitable quarters. Two other Plunket babies, Henry and Derek Terry, have given £2 each toward the furnishing fund. These gifts should serve as an example to the parents of many others who have benefited. By raising £3400 at once the society would be relieved of much anxiety concerning its finances and, in view of the valuable services rendered by the staff of Plunket nurses, the appeal is worthy of general support.
