A SPEEDY MOTORIST.
OVER TWO MILES A MINUTE. (Received 10.35 p.m.) Reuter. PARIS, Aug. 26. At a motor race meeting at Boulogne, Seagrave, a competitor, established a feat which is remarkable in the history of road racing. Over about five kilometres of hilly ground he maintained the staggering speed of 147 miles an hour. When traversing the top of a hill Seagrave's machine left the ground and rushed through the air for 20yds. It came to the ground with a bump which almost flung the driver out of the machine. He covered the distance in 85 3-ssecs., which is a world's record. He had a flying start.
