The Ripon CJiild mare Molly Park, s wbo has previously raced as a trotter, is being tried at the pacing gait and has been working with the straps on. A. Newdick has Grey Peter. Satinbird. and First Carbine working steadily. These horses are all backward after a spell and will take time to roach thorcmsb. racing condition Good procress iB being made with the erection of the new entrances at Alexandra' Park and they should be ready for the spring meeting. The new entrances will be a big improvement and should do awav with any congestion. • , . A. B'rown has Harold Junior atul 'Wrigley working steadily. The former, is not getting any younger, but Wrigley is doing nicely and should be an improved pacer this season. The Australian-bred horse Metal has been taken to the Waikato, where he will do a season at the stud.' J. Shaw has Peter Dean, Wallroon, Florrie Bingen. and Peter McDonald working usefully at Alexandra Park. Wallroon is pretty forward and* should be in capital order for the spring meeting. The three-vear-old filly : hy Gold Bell from Florrie Roe is getting through useful work at Alexandra Park under the direction of her owner. E. Sandall. She. is engaged in the Great Northern Trotting Derby, to be decided in December next. The pacing mare Direct Wood, who went liame about a month ago and had to be eased up. has thrown off . her lameness and has resumed work at Addington. All going •toell, Direct Wood should accomplish good things this season, for she is undoubtedly a' yery promising pacer. : The form shown by Hanpy Rosa at the frottin- gait has been below expectations. This has been due to her failure to trot sleadilv in her races, and it is likely that' she will be tried as a pacer. SIR.FiS OF THE SEASON. The stallion Florizel is advertised to stand fhe season at Mr. A. C. McCardle's farm at Papatoetoe. Florizel is a descendant of Harold Dilloif (son of Sidney Dillon), his dam Floranz being a daughter' of Franz (son of Vaneleve).
