PUBLIC LECTURES.

An illustrated lecture entitled " The All Red Route Across Canada," will bo given in the Town Hall Concert Clumber on Monday evening by Mr. Headlam Greenhow. The Hon. George Fowlds will preside. The lantern-slides exceed 200 in number, and will represent not only the scenery of the famous Canadian Rockies, but also the - great; industrial centres, natural resources and supply farms. While principally dealing with tho subject from the viewpoint of the traveller, the story and potentialities of the great Dominion, will be given in interesting detail. The lecture will cover the great railway system serving all the important industrial) commercial and agricultural sections of Canada from Victoria to Halifax. Preceding' the lecture patriotic airs will be rendered by the Ponsonby Boys' Brass Band, Mr. B. C. Aston, of Wellington, will give a lecture in the biology theati'e of the University Science Building this evening under the auspices of the Workers' Educational Association, on "The Ornamental Value of New Zealand Herbs, Shrubs and Trees." Mr, Aston, who is a recognised authority on the subject, will illustrate his address with numerous lantern slides. A dramatic recital of the Charles Dickens masterpiece, "The Tale of Two Cities," will be given in the Prirscess Theatre to-morrow evening by Mr. E. Headlam Gteenhmv. The story of this episode of the French Revolution will illustrated by over ICO lantern slides. The usual piano fecitsd will precede the lecture. Admission will be by silver coin. The theory of man's nature, origin and destiny, advanced by Sir Oliver Lodge, will be dealt with in the light of the latest scientific discoveries by the Rev. A. Thornhill in a lecture in tha Unitarian Church, Ponsonby Road, tomorrow evening. A lecture under the auspices of the International Bible Students' Association will be .given in the Lyric Theatre tomorrow evening by Mr. J. E. A. Gates, "What is Man ?" is the subject of an address to be given to-morrow afternoon in Scots Hall by Mrs. R. Clark. Tho subject of first aid to the injured will be dealt with in a lecture to men in the St. John Ambulance station, Rutland Street, next Wednesday evening.
