OFFICERS OF Y.W.C.A.
THE ANNUAL ELECTION. The annual meeting of the Auckland! Y.W.C.A. was hold last evening. The president, Mrs. G. 11. Wilson, occupied the chair, and there was a large attendance. In presenting the report Mrs. Wilson said she was bringing to a conclusion the. sixth year of her office. She very sincerely thanked her colleagues for their loyal support, courtesy and consideration. Members of the board of directors and the staff had been largely responsible for the success that had attended the association's efforts. In particular Mrs. Wilson mentioned the work of Miss Jean Stevenson, general secretary, Miss Jean Begg, assistant-secretary, and Miss Edmund, financial secretary. The report showed that two very practical ideals of the association were well on the way to completion, namely* the. establishment of a new hostel, and a holiday house. In the many activities in. connection with the association the spirit that had carried forward the work was noticeably one of toleration and consideration for others. In the great principle of the association there lay a fundamental truth in the fact that in :v life of service for others we found our
own happiness. An interesting programme was contributed, in which the items comprised National dances and a gymnastic display. The presentation of the annual report tool; the form of characterisation. Various girl members marched on to the platform, each carrying a poster giving statistics regarding "a particular department. Short speeches summarising the work were given and amusing sketches were introduced. These included a mannequin parade, in which the frocks were made in the dressmaking class. Another showed the working of the laundry of tb<s present hostel and, following, what it vss hoped would be the working of the laundry in the now hostel. A holidayhouse race on jam-tins was adroitly performed and the library department gave presentations of famous characters in literature. The election of officers resulted as follows, Mrs. Wilson from tho position of president:—President, Mrs. C. W. Garrard; members of the board of directors, Mesdames W. Todd Smith, 0. F. Snowdon, J. M. Murdoch, H. B. Webster, C. Morrin, Miss E. Goodfellow (reelected), Mrs. Jessie Rac, Mrs. D. G. Colo, and Miss Ivy Perry.
