THE DAIRYING OUTPUT.

LESS BUTTER PRODUCED. SLIGHT INCREASE IN CHEESE. AUCKLAND GRADING RETURNS. Dairy production is proceeding satisfactorily in tho Auckland Province, although the total output to date is not quite equal to that of the similar jperiod of last season. Returns furnished by the Auckland Farmers' Freezing Company show the butter received for grading, during the four weeks ended August 25, totalled 24,820 boxes, compared with 24,994 for the corresponding period of last season, a decrease of 174 boxes. Cheese receipts totalled 638 cratas, as against 769, a decrease of 131 crates. The butter returns for tho seauon to August 25 totalled 41,752 boxes, compared with 42,843 for the similar period of last year, a decrease of 1091 boxes. Cheese received for grading during the period totalled 2180 crates, compared with 1963, an increase of 217 crates. The increase in the cheese output to date does not quite compensate for the decline in butter, but it is estimated that by the end of the month the deficit will be made good. Receipts are always more or less irregular in the early part of the season and during last week supplies were coming forward much more freely than earlier in the month. Fairly good clearances iu both commodities have been effected since tho season opened on July 1. Butter delivered totalled 112,132 boxes compared with 52,931 boxes last year and cheese delivered totalled 9918 crates, compared with 1819. Butter in store on August 25 totalled 31,826 boxes, &3 against 34,227 last year, and cheese 1410 crates, as against 1738.
