PROGRESS OF FIRE BRIGADE. PROPOSED QUEEN CARNIVAL. [BY TELEGRAPH.-—OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] OHAKUNE, Thursday. The annual meeting of tho Ohakune Fire Brigade was held this week. Members of the Fire Board were present and congratulated the superintendent, Mr. F. Tozer, on tho progress of the brigade. It was decided to open iv subscription list for funds to improve tho furnishing of tho station. The committees of tho State and Catholic schools held a combined meeting this week with a view to conducting a giant queen carnival in aid of funds for the improvement of tho grounds of both schools. Three queons, representing "Business," "Public Service," and "Siftvmillers and Farmers," are to be selected by subcommittees. The campaign will be entered upon forthwith and will close on November 20.
