OTAHUHU BOROUGH.
HOKONUI DRAINAGE SCHEME. ACCEPTANCE OF A TENDER. The Ot-ahuhu Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. R. B. Todd, presiding. A deputation of residents from the north end of Brady Road extension sought the assistance of the council in securing access to their properties. The deputation offered £4O toward the cost -if the council. would undertake the work. The matter was referred to the Works Committee for report. The building inspector reported that in the past seven days building permits totalling £4150 had been issued. Tho Auckland Automobile Association notified that it was forwarding six signboards for erection at the intersection at the Nixon monument, the firebell and Panmure roads. Tho offer was accepted with thanks. Permission was granted to the New Zealand Athletic and Cyclng Union to hold a cycle road race on October 2. Eight tenders were received for the Hokonui drainage scheme. The lowest, that of Messrs. Grinter Brothers, was ac- : cepted, subject to check by thq borough engineer. The engineer's estimate was £4968-3s 7d. h 1 The Mayor reported that about 40 drain pipes had been broken by vandals during the week-end and that he had reported the matter to the police.
