GOVERNMENT'S ASSISTANCE. DEPUTATION THANKS MINISTER. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON, Thursday. A deputation of over 40 members of the New Zealand South African Veterans' Association, which has been holding its annual conference here, waited on the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon, R F Bollard, to-day, to express thanks for the work done by the Government in properly laying out and maintaining the graves of soldiers who died in the Dominion. The spok«smsn of the deputation were Mr. A. M. Samuel, M.P., Mr. C. de Launay, and the Rev. D. Dutton, Mr. de Launay said that the association felt grateful to the Government for paying so much regard to tho requests it had made about the graves of South African veterans and the liberal treatment that had been given. Mr. Dutton expressed great satisfaction with what had been done in the soldiers' plot at Karon Cemetery and said the association hoped to have the scattered graves of New Zealand soldiers in South Africa concentrated as far as possible in one place. The Minister, in reply, said it was a pleasant surprise to be thanked in this way.. He felt gratified to know tha Government's efforts were appreciate i. He could assure them that everything possible would, be done to preserve the graves of the .honoured dead.
