BANDIT WRECKS A BANK.

NEW YORK ' Aug- 24 ; \ young man strolled into the Farmers National Bank in tho heart of the business district of Pittsburg and without saying a word presented a written demand for "A hundred thousand dollars or I'll blow you up." The teller pressed a secret mechanism and within ten seconds four special policemen tried to close in on the bandit. Tho robber threw a satchel that he carried against a pillar. A terrific explosion followed. It wrecked the building, killed one detective and mortally wounded two customers. Fifteen others were takon to the hospital. The bandit himself escaped. The whole of the " down-town" section of Pittsburg was shaken by the force of the crash. Paper money was blown in everv direction and some of it %Vas picked np hundreds of fcot away.
